There are few locations in Scotland that give residents the wide choice of activities that Dundee has to offer. For those of us who love the outdoors, Dundee is a great place to live. What’s even better, of course, is that flats to rent in Dundee are part of the commuting belt to Edinburgh, so we can have the best of both worlds.
Dundee is situated on the east coast of Scotland and has amongst the best weather in the country, this is because of its surroundings – the Sidlaw hills. These not only provide protection form the elements but are wonderful hillwalking locations in their own right. If you also consider the fact that Dundee is situated on the banks of the river Tay, residents have access to some great water sports and one of the finest salmon rivers in the world.

Watching birds in the great British outdoors
It’s wonderful to get away from it all and do a spot of hillwalking, but the thing that really makes it for me is the bird watching opportunities. I’m strictly an amateur when it comes to birds, but I still get a great deal out of seeing the wide variety of birds that us city dwellers never catch a glimpse of.
In Britain, there are a number of birds that usually never come into contact with the human population. Although, my bird watching exploits generally involve a good trek with just the hope of seeing some of these creatures (that is I don’t hide away with the explicit purpose of seeing a certain bird), I have been fortunate enough to see many of the rarer indigenous bird species. I’d highly recommend this pass-time to anyone – wishing you the success I’ve enjoyed.

Ladies country clothing
My home is surrounded by renowned routes for walking in the Scottish scenery. However, until recently I hadn’t taken to hillwalking as an activity. It took the insistence of close friends to get me up on the hills, and I’m glad they did.
I have come to enjoy the time spent with friends amongst nature. Even the cold doesn’t put a dampener on proceedings as long I wrap up well in the right ladies country clothing. Correct country clothes make a real difference in the bitter conditions of Autumn and winter.
I think the reason I was hesitant to go hillwalking is the impression of hard work and beating the elements, but the work is rewarding and the weather doesn’t penetrate the right gear.
So, if you want to get outdoors and explore some outstanding scenery, I’d recommend hillwalking.

Legal quad bike trekking
Police forces throughout Scotland have launched a clampdown on the illegal use of quad and trial bikes on forestry paths across Scotland.
Recent activity has been in the West Lothian region where police officers have seized ten off-road vehicles which were being used illegally on popular walking tracks.
The recent press coverage goes to show the demand for off-roading and quad bike trekking within Scotland, and why sticking to using one of the many registered and respected companies operating in this established market is a sensible decision.
It also opens a whole range of more exciting and interesting routes with some fabulous trails available in Perthshire and the Highlands.
