Flies – the only thing to spoil a trip
I’ve visited many exciting places around the world and taken part in a wide range of extraordinary events. Often the hotter countries are exceptional venues for some amazing outdoor activites. Dune racing in Dubai or kayaking in South America.
It seems that it is the small things that interrupt these days out. From the weather (some slight changes can completely interrupt you plans) to unexpected interruptions form wildlife. But, without a doubt it is the insects that really get on my nerves. Flies, in particular, are rife in the hotter part so of the world, and can really bug you if you are trying to concentrate on your performance. If you are traveling to a hot country, make sure to take pfly spray.
Discount hotels in London can save you a packet
London is not a traditional location for those of us seeking adventurous outdoor pursuits. But, there is always something going on in and around the UK capital, so – if you are looking for exciting times – you can find just about anyhting in London.
The surrounding area is packed full of great natural beauty, with the usual things going on – form clay pigeon shooting to quad biking. There is also the main waterway – the Thames. It is perfect for some of us physical types who like to push ourselves. Nothing quite like rowing up and down the river, taking in city view and breaking records.
If you don’t live in London, it can be a problem. But fortunately, there are many discount hotels in London that mean you have more money to spend on your fun.

Tweeds – classic outdoor wear
There are great new clothing ranges for all manner of outdoor pursuits, and one of the first lessons learned by practitioners of any outdoor activity is to make certain you have the right kit.
However, there is one timeless piece of clothing that has endured dure to its functionality and style. I’m talking of course about tweeds. Jackets, caps, skirts – all manner of fashionable country clothing has been fashioned form tweed for many years.
Although, for many of the pursuits I enjoy I wouldn’t wear tweed. For instance, it would get terribly muddy on a day spent quadbiking, there is though nothing better than tweeds for a good walk on the hills or out and about in the 4×4.
Wind – the source of so much fun
I’m a big fan of outdoor activities, but in my everyday life I get annoyed by the elements – whether it is snow that prevents me getting to work on time or rain soaking me as I run from meeting to meeting.
But nothing quite annoys me as walking against the wind, balanced at a precarious (almost horizontal) angle. It seems sometimes that the wind changes direction depending on where I want to go.
There is, however, nothing quite as much fun as wind power for leisure time. These days wind is a very useful source of electricity, but it also is perfect for wind surfing, paragliding and a number of other great outdoor activities.
