Folding table – great for camping and outdoor fun
My family and I are camping enthusiasts, and enjoy nothing more than a weekend away in the fresh air and indulging in our favourite outdoor activities like hiking and biking.
I was on the lookout for a folding table we could take with us on our camping trips. It had to be lightweight and sturdy, and of course I didn’t want to spend too much either.
I stumbled upon a great website that specialises in camping equipment. The table I bought from them was an absolute bargain, and it has now made ten successful trips with us – I would thoroughly recommend shopping online.

Self catering breaks – Perthshire chalets
If I were writing a postcard, I would say that the weather was warm and sunny all week. We had a fabulous time on the ski runs in Glenshee, and had a wonderful visit to the Cairngorms. We stayed in a fabulously cosy lodge retreat, a welcome prospect at the end of a hard day.
We were able to go for walks in the stunning countryside every evening, before relaxing and unwinding on our balcony with a glass of something chilled.
I found our Perthshire chalet on a great travel and holidays website, and now I am home I am looking to book my next break in Scotland already.

Cashmere scarf – a great gift for any woman
My husband recently bought me a cashmere scarf, and I must say I am quite taken with it. There is nothing like the feeling of warm, soft cashmere against my neck, and it is so versatile and practical, I can team it with any outfit and it goes.
I like how stylish my cashmere scarf looks with a blouse and trousers for work, and when I wear it over my little black dress it really sets the whole outfit off a treat.
I am hoping that next time it will be a cashmere beret or gloves to complete the set – fingers crossed!

Given it’s location on the north east coast of Scotland, Aberdeen is an outdoor enthusiasts dream. The surrounding countryside is excellent for all forms of outdoor pursuits, and some of the UK’s best skiing is only a short journey away.
If you enjoy hiking, then the Scottish Highlands are an area you must explore. Bothys (a Scottish word for a residence travellers can stay in on their journeys) abound in the region, giving explorers all the more reason to spend days exploring the hills around Aberdeen.
With so much on the doorstep, it is worth considering moving to the area. There are flats in Aberdeen to suit all tastes, offering the comforts of home to come back to after an adventure in the Highlands.

Dealing with wasps
If your passion is hillwalking then, at some point, you’re going to come across the problem of wasps. In the summer, they can be annoying and dangerous interlopers on your outdoor adventures.
So the first tip is to avoid the height of summer if you can for your trip. That is rarely possible though when you look at a beautiful summer’s day you don’t want to let only the insects have fun.
If you do venture out, avoid wearing bright colours or fragrances. Scented candles can also attract insects, so be wary of using them when you stop to rest or eat.

Sustaining energy on a hike
Hiking is a fun but challenging pursuit, especially when tackling some of the more adventurous routes around. It is great for mind and body, working on health and fitness while offering great scenery and a wonderful environment for bonding with friends. Although it is great exercise in its own right, if you treat your body right when away form the hills then you’ll enjoy your hillwalking that much more. There is nothing worse than losing energy on a hiking trip.
With that in mind, there are number of ways to provide continuous energy so you can keep the enjoyment going. One way is to pack some high carb snack foods to provide a short-term energy boost when you need it – I recommend that all hillwalkers should keep some on their person, even of it’s just the popular energy bars from your local health food store – at a push a bar of chocolate will do the trick.

Hen weekends in Scotland for a tranquil time
You can do just about anything for a hen or stag do these days. The most popular events for hen and stag weekends seem to be city-based boozefests or exciting outdoor activities like quads – and not just for the guys. But, just as popular is the idea of a relaxing hen spent with friends in peaceful surroundings and a glass of champagne.
That’s where hen weekends in Scotland are ideal. You can book lodges in the great Scottish outdoors complete with hot tub and sauna and all the home comforts you could want.
Some of these lodges are only a short walk from main hotel complexes with spa facilities to further indulge yourself.

Get the right camcorder accessories to record your favourite moments
I find that camcorders are one of the main pieces of equipment in the outdoor enthusiast’s kit bag these days. In the olden day (i.e. over ten years ago) camcorders were just too bulky to consider taking along with you on a hill walk.
However, nowadays, camcorders and cameras – along with laptops, mobiles, GPS devices and a whole load of other technological equipment – have become commonplace on outdoor trips.
These things are great for capturing the experience to re-live with friends or for documenting great times. The more competitive amongst us can also record achievements. An important piece of advice is to make sure you have the correct camcorder accessories such as additional batteries, light filters or even a solar charger, to ensure you are always ready to capture the moment.
