Wasps – scourge of the summer

Now that summer is finally here, most of us can soon expect a visit from that most unwelcome of garden intruders – wasps.

The humble is undoubtedly the cause of disruption to many a summer barbecue and outdoor events in general. They are seen as aggressive and even vindictive, and many people’s fear of them is completely out of proportion to the harm their sting can actually cause.

Wasps are attracted by sugary, starchy foods, which are present in abundance at most outdoor summer occasions. One way to get rid of them is to set up a separate “wasp table” away from the main event, stocked with plenty of wasp-friendly treats to keep them away from the revellers.
