More new builds springing up…
I know there’s supposed to be a shortage of new houses in the UK, but lately is seems like everywhere I go there are new builds springing up all over the place. I went away for a little day out in the country the other with an old friend, and as we went to where we were going, we ended up driving past the area where we both grew up.
The place was almost unrecognisable. What used to be fields and open ground is now jam packed with lots of little houses, all huddled together and all looking exactly the same. Very strange.

Over half of UK consumers would consider buying a tablet pc – such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab or Apple iPad
In today’s information-hungry society, the most important tablet PC functionality for UK consumers is access to the internet (84%), followed by emails (65%), and multi-tasking abilities (48%). Over a third (36%) of those questioned also confirmed that having preloaded e-book reader software or newspaper content was an important feature to have on their device. The tablet’s battery life is also an important consideration, with 56% of those questioned wanting at least 10 hours of battery life. The Apple iPad comes out on top for this quality with a longer battery life of 10 hours, compared to The Samsung Galaxy Tab’s 7 hours.

The UK post service
What is up with the UK post service these days? I am old enough to remember the days when there were two deliveries a day – one in the early morning and one in the afternoon – but lately it seems as if there’s barely one a day. Plus, when the post does come it can be at any time of the morning or afternoon, but never before I leave for work.
Then there’s the red rubber band issue. It seems that every street in the UK these days is littered with the red rubber bands that postmen use to tie their envelopes. I don’t usually like to complain about things, but the post service is really not up to scratch any more.

How to get rid of wasps – simple nest removal
Nest removal is a fairly simple, if sometimes dangerous process. Finding the nest is the easy part – a quick survey for heavy wasp traffic during dusk or dawn, when wasps tend to return to the nest will usually lead you to the source.
Once the sun is down for the evening and you’ve noticed less traffic near the nest, you should dress in multiple layers of clothing to protect yourself and wear a pair of thick gloves. Then, go out to the nest and spray the entrance with a wasp-killing agent. Spray liberally, but avoid inhaling the poison. Most wasp poisons kill on contact, but leave the area slowly and quietly, as sudden movements will cause further aggravation.

Sustaining energy on a hike
Hiking is a fun but challenging pursuit, especially when tackling some of the more adventurous routes around. It is great for mind and body, working on health and fitness while offering great scenery and a wonderful environment for bonding with friends. Although it is great exercise in its own right, if you treat your body right when away form the hills then you’ll enjoy your hillwalking that much more. There is nothing worse than losing energy on a hiking trip.
With that in mind, there are number of ways to provide continuous energy so you can keep the enjoyment going. One way is to pack some high carb snack foods to provide a short-term energy boost when you need it – I recommend that all hillwalkers should keep some on their person, even of it’s just the popular energy bars from your local health food store – at a push a bar of chocolate will do the trick.
